I am so in love with him sometimes
I pretend that's all we need
As if a relationship consists of nothing else
Or the argument is over if he concedes

I ask,
"What is your agenda here,
and what are you doing to keep me?"

He says,
"I never had an agenda here,
And I never said I could handle this quite frankly."

So many fierce people I know
Can't see the forest through the trees
Thinking the way they look is the way they feel
And the way they feel is all they need

I ask,
"Do you honestly enjoy playing those games
The ones of those reindeer femmes?"

He says,
"There are some fierce black queens out there
and quite frankly I am one of them."

There was a time nothing needed to be a debate
There was a time I didn't need to define my hate
There was a time I was not consumed by my weight
There was a time I was unaware of fate

Or the unwitting circumstance of vertigo
So far away there's no other way to go
But down

So far away from where we came from
Need some love where can I get some

He likes the poetry of my dissention
As if I were trying to rhyme
He misunderstands my intentions
I'm after the grapes not the wine

I say,
"You don't really love me,
You just admire what I do."

He says,
"Tell me what the difference is,
maybe I am wasting my time with you."

We are all hungry, lost and searching
Trying to find a home we never had
I get that sometimes I'm your mother
I get that sometimes I'm your dad

I ask,
"What is the point if that is the case?
You wanted me on a platter, how do I taste?"

"Like chicken," he says, "but not nearly as dry,
I wanted you to be my family, stop asking me why"

In all this time trying to circumvent contention
In all this time became the king of ego deprecation
In all this time trying to avoid miscalculation
In all this time working against stereotype convention

and the unwitting circumstance of vertigo
So far away there's no other way to go
But down

So far away from where we came from
Need some love where can I get some

The air's so thin away from the umbilical
We become capitalists, we become biblical
We believe we deserve what our soldiers fight for
Like an apple who believes he's the only one with a core

We're up, we're off to another sky high scheme
More money to be had, more booty to be seen
Down below the people look like ants and roaches
To high believe their hearts can still be broken

But I try to keep up, keep high
Keep clean, keep going
The world doesn't slow down for you
Just because it's snowing

I say,
"You are an attractive young dude.
Can I get you some coffee or another beverage?"

He says,
"I'm into white men only
it's not a prejudice just a preference."

So this time the paranoid is being chased
So this time I need to define my hate
So this time you go ahead and deny your face
But sometime you're going to trip over or own race

And the unwitting circumstance of vertigo
So far away there's no other way to go
But down

So far away from where we came from
Need some love where can we get some

the unwitting circumstance of vertigo
So far away there's no other way to go
But down

Either fast or slow, gravity works just the same
Either fast or slow, gravity works just the same
Either fast or slow, gravity works just the same
